T-Birds Recruiting Class ranked No. 1
They haven't even played a game yet, but Blake Nill's effect on UBC Thunderbird football is already being felt. The new head coach hit the ground running when he joined UBC, and his efforts are paying off. In the latest Canada Football Chat recruitment rankings, UBC Football is No. 1. Nill's biggest recruit for the upcoming season, is former Penn State quarterback Michael O'Connor. The Ontario native was redshirted his freshamn year at Penn State, and has five years of eligibility left. "I came in with the mandate to change the culture and take the UBC football program to another level," said Nill. "In terms of recruiting, our goal is to be the top destination for student-athletes not only in British Columbia, but from across Canada. Getting Michael to join our program is the first step to reaching that goal." The Thunderbirds will open the 2015 season in Quebec City with an exhibition game against Laval University on August 29.
