IT’S always special when great student athletes decide to play their university football at UBC. It’s even better when the student athletes are born and raised right here in Metro Vancouver, said UBC Athletics and Recreation as it announced that both Jagroop Sandhu (OL, Vancouver College / 6’4″ 280lbs) and Ryan Von Ende (OL / DL, South Delta Secondary) were to sign letters of intent to join the UBC Thunderbirds football program on Thursday as they look to defend their Vanier Cup championship in 2016.
“The signing of Von Ende and Sandhu is very big for UBC. It’s important we are able to protect our
back yard in terms of recruiting,” said Thunderbirds Football Head Coach Blake Nill. “Having two young, national prominent student athletes stay at home says a lot about the future of UBC football and the direction of which it’s travelling.”
Both players signed their letter of intents in the new, state-of-the-art UBC Football Academic Centre on the grounds of the newly renovated Thunderbird Stadium.
