UBC Thunderbirds football players pick up their Vanier Cup rings

Members of the 2015 Vanier Cup champion UBC Thunderbirds football team picked up some new jewelry last night.

Players were on hand as the 13th Man Foundation held a gala dinner to celebrate UBC football.

UBC upset the Montreal Carabins 26-23 in the Vanier Cup last November, winning the game on a last second field goal. It was the first Vanier Cup championship for UBC since 1997.

Players received a nice surprise at around 9:30 p.m. when servers brought out trays of what everyone must have assumed were deserts. Instead, what they found were 2015 National Championship rings.

The pictures tell the rest of the story better than I can.
