The Sport Excellence Program Laval Laval University has lost one of its architects.

Gilles Lépine left his Deputy Director of the Service des sports (SAS) from Laval University and head of the Rouge et Or to be appointed senior athletic director at the Thunderbirds University of British Columbia.

"It is with regret that we say goodbye to Gilles, but we also understand his decision to want to take up a new challenge," said the director of SAS, Christian Gagnon, in a statement.

I will live a new chapter in my personal, family and professional life in another stimulating and dynamic environment, "said Gilles Lépine.

Lépine, who worked at Laval University since 2004, was presented to the Vancouver media Friday afternoon.

He officially leaves office at Laval University at the end of May.

Lépine was co-chair of the organizing committee of the Vanier Cup in 2015. He played for the Rouge et Or volleyball in the mid 1970s before becoming head coach of the women's team (1978-1979) and then the men's (1981-1984).
