UBC QB O'Connor visits PM Trudeau with Vanier Cup

Let’s go back to a simpler time in the life of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Two days ago, about an hour before #ElbowGate, the Prime Minister was getting his picture taken with UBC star quarterback Michael O’Connor and the Vanier Cup.

UBC won the Vanier Cup back in November, you might remember, with a last second field goal to beat the University of Montreal.

Trudeau, a UBC graduate who also studied at the University of Montreal, invited O’Connor to Ottawa to meet him.

“I better not,” said Trudeau when asked if he would wear O’Connor’s Vanier Cup ring. “I have friends in Montreal who wouldn’t be too happy with me.”

Up next for O’Connor is BC Lions training camp in Kamloops, beginning May 31st.

O’Connor was accompanied by Len Catling (UBC Media Relations), David Sidoo (UBC Board of Governors), along with David’s wife Manjy, and son Jordan.
