Thunderbirds roar back for road victory

UBC Thunderbirds running back Kory Nagata rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in Saturday’s 41-21 victory over the Alberta Golden Bears in Edmonton. The injury-ravaged T-birds (3-1) won their third straight at Foote Field, rallying from a 14-7 second-quarter deficit after Will Maxwell’s 96-yard kickoff return gave UBC a huge boost, as they outscored the host Bears Bears 34-7 the rest of the way. Said head coach Blake Nill: “We want to be more consistent. But we found a way to win again … We knew we were going to sit a lot of key starters. All week we were telling guys that it was their opportunity to come out and compete and show us what they could do in a bigger role.”
